Many small business websites look fine but do not produce inquiries. The cause is usually not design. It is that visitors cannot quickly tell what the business does, why they should trust it, or how to reach it. This checklist covers the basics.
1. Say what you do in the first screen
A visitor should understand your service and who it is for within a few seconds. Specific beats clever.
2. Give each service its own page
Separate pages let search engines understand each service and let visitors find exactly what they came for. Include who it is for, what is covered, and common questions.
3. Make contacting you effortless
Put a clear call to action, a phone number, and a short form on every important page. Fewer fields means more people finish the form.
4. Build trust with real proof
Case studies, named projects, and clear contact details do more than adjectives. Only publish results you can stand behind.
5. Make it fast and mobile-friendly
Most visitors arrive on a phone. Compress images, avoid heavy scripts, and test on a small screen.
6. Set up search and tracking from day one
Submit a sitemap to Google Search Console, add structured data, and track form submissions so you know which pages produce leads.
